Join or Renew Membership for 2010-11
Now is the time to join our chapter or renew your current membership for 2010-11. The 2010-11 membership year begins August 1. As a Tarrant Tiger, you will enjoy food discounts at the Fox & Hound CityView during our game watch parties, plus at the annual Crawfish Boil and Fish Fry. The best reason though, is that you will be helping support our annual LSU Scholarships. Through your generosity, we are now able to offer two scholarships each year to high school graduates from the Fort Worth area. Joining or renewing is so easy with a credit card through our website at www.lsutarranttigers.org or you can print out an application and mail to LSU Tarrant Tigers, P.O. Box 1772, Fort Worth, TX 76101. Individual membership is $20 and family membership is $30. If you joined or renewed when registering for the Crawfish Boil or Fish Fry, you are good to geaux til Jul 21, 2011.
Fish Fry a Big Success
We had a good crowd at our 4th annual Fish Fry on June 26 at Blue Water Shores Park on Lake Granbury where members enjoyed swimming, boating, fishing, and shopping at the LSU Store. Best of all was eating the delicious catfish and all the trimmings plus homemade desserts. Thanks to all who attended, helped, prepare for, decorate, cook, mind the store and clean up. Proceeds from the fish fry and LSU store will make another big contribution to our Scholarship Fund.
2010 Scholarships
We are pleased to announce the recipients of the LSU Tarrant Tigers 2010 Purple and Gold Scholarships. Both were awarded their scholarships at the Fish Fry on June 26
Rachael Elizabeth Alvis, a graduate of Springtown High School, received the $1,000 Gold Scholarship. Rachael is the daughter of Gaylon and Angela Alvis of Paradise. She plans to major in Accounting.
Bryant Gary Garcin, a graduate of Pilot Point High School, received the $750 Purple Scholarship. Bryant is the son of Kenneth and Deborah Garcin of Pilot Point. He plans to major in Geography.
We thank all the scholarship applicants and wish them the best in their future endeavors at LSU. We also thank all our volunteers on the Scholarship Committee, Linda Taylor, Kim Tyler, Lisa Dryden, and Davis Tubre. They had the challenging job of reviewing all the applications and choosing the Purple and Gold recipients.
Pearson Scholarship
We are well on our way toward fully funding our 2011 scholarships. We want to especially thank alum Keith Pearson and his wife Dianne for their significant contribution that will fund one of the 2011 scholarships. In May, the Board voted to name one of the 2011 scholarships, The Pearson Scholarship, in honor of Keith and Dianne for their continued support of the LSU Tarrant Tigers and our Scholarship Program.
